Global Domains International – What You Should Know About GDI

Global Domains International

GDIWhat exactly is Global Domains International and how did GDI(Global Domains International) get started. Back in 1998 at the beginning of the dot com craze many companies were sprouting up in what is know as silicon valley. At this time I remember seeing commercials on TV adding their domain name at the bottom of the commercial. The internet was just starting to catch on and AOL ruled the world. Google was not even a player yet. Dial up was what was used to get online. I remember when I would get online at this time I would go upstairs and make some popcorn while I waited for different sites to download. Looking back at this makes me laugh.  And Global Domains International was just at the thought process stages of Michael Starr and Alan Ezeir who are the founders of GDI.

Global Domains International – A Little History

Mike and Alan were aware that dot coms were selling extremely fast and they were also aware that IANA(Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) assigned each nation a country code and these codes were assigned so each country utilize these codes for their own internet needs. For example .us was assigned for the United States and .au was assigned for Australia. Global Domains International was founded on the extension letters of .ws which was assigned to Western Samoa. Mike and Alan thought that .WS could be marketed as a top level domain.

Global Domains International – A Date with the Samoan King

After many phone calls and emails with top Samoan officials a date was finally set to meet the King, Prime Minister and other leading officials regarding the .WS extension. In order to better prepare themselves for their visit to Samoa Mike and Alan studies and learned Samoan traditions, customs and business practices. Global Domains International would not be if Mike and Alan had not poured their whole heart and soul into this project. They prepared in every detail what they could offer this island. They went into this looking to be in a partnership with the Samoan government.

Global Domains International – The Big Trip To the Small Island

After finally arriving at the airport in Samoa Mike and Alan reviewed and rehearsed their presentation they had worked so hard on. Global Domains International was just a business plan and dream of 2 very persistent men looking to catch a piece of the internet wave at this point in time. Mike and Alan wanted to come across the Samoans as sincere and honest. They looked to build the trust of all of Samoans government officials who were present at this first meeting. Mike and Alan had put together a 20 page proposal of their plans for the .WS extension and of the thoughts to build Global Domains International using .WS. After a personal visit to the King’s home and after a few days of enjoying the beautiful island Mike and Alan flew home and felt encouraged that a deal would get done to form Global Domains International.

Global Domains International – Almost Did Not Exist

After Mike and Alan got home from their trip to Samoa they had to wait a few months to find out that their proposal that they had slaved over was in fact rejected. Global Domains International looked as though it was just a pipe dream that would never come to be. Mike and Alan found out that after their visit that other companies from the U.S. and other places were also given the opportunity to give presentations on how to use the .WS extension to better help the island. Mike was ready to give up at this point but Alan tracked down the local Samoan government majority owned technology that had apparently been awarded the the domain contract. After a call to the general manager Alan pitched the idea of of this local company on the island partnering with them. Because of Alan’s persistence and willingness to adapt to the situation Global Domains International was created.

Global Domains International – The Real Deal

In November of 2000 Global Domains International had registered over 100,000 domain names. All this just shortly under nine months after launching. The Samoan government had a requirement that they register 15,000 .WS domain names within 3 years and GDI did this within their first month. Fast forward to 2011. Global Domains International has affiliates who make a full time income just from selling domain names through their affiliate program. Located in Carlsbad, California GDI provides world class service and has never been late on paying any affiliate commissions. Not only did Alan and Mike start Global Domains International with blood, sweat and tears but they run the company with the same resolve they had to found it. GDI is a top tier corporation.
